Getting the 2007 Canyon Nerve XC 5.0 (insider: The lost son has returned)
After hours, days, weeks and months in search of a new moutain bike I finally ordered the 2007 Canyon Nerve XC 5.0. The search included hours of reading sessions in bike forums, manufacturer websites (Canyon, Bulls, Bergamont, Steppenwolf, Giant, Poison, …) and talks to friends and colleagues.
My prefered biking terrain is offroad over long distances with only little downhill trails. Thats why I decided to get the XC cause it is supposed to be a great bike for marathons.
Since my past two bikes both suffered broken frames (on both seat post broke out) the new one has to deal with my 1,92m and 92kg having a robust frame combined with an extra long seat post, some quality parts and a good overall look. What I found pretty neat was how Canyon installed the gear and break cables without any big loops.
Live Bike Status
June 27th:
- ordered as an Express Bike* in size XL (* supposed to be available immediately)
- order confirmation e-mail received
June 29th:
- received assembly date via mail, will be calendar week 27/28 (cw 27 starts July 2nd)
- brand new Shimano – MTB-Pedal PD-M545 just came in
July 4th:
- just received the shipping confirmation by e-mail (via DHL might take 1-4 days)
July 5th:
- bike was delivered today!

Congratulations! A great bike. Hopefully, you will get it soon.Looking forward to seeing you on the trails. Well, as it is a really fast bike, we will only see your back most of the time, I suppose.

That XC is one mean-looking machine. I just got into mountain biking last year but blew out my right knee 3 months back. Riding hasn’t been the same since. Rest assured, I’ll be back.

That looks pretty sick! I’m a bit of a health nut and have been lurking on some mountainbiking sites lately. It may be my next hobby!
